True love isn't just expressed in passionately whispered words or an intimate kiss or embrace, before two people are married, love is expressed in self-control, patience, even words left unsaid.
For me this is one of the power line from the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye. After reading the book, I contemplated and had a quick self-evaluation of my actions in the past. I learned how to act well when it comes to love. And what do I mean with that?
Simple.
By waiting for the right time and not being easily carried away with emotions.
This world tells us so many lies about love.
But this book will help us have a bigger picture of what true love is (of course, the bible's the most prescribed book in knowing what true love is!)This world tells us so many lies about love.
Love is expressed in self-control, patience, even words left unsaid.Self-control.
This is one of the things that of us has forgotten when it comes to love. Most people go crazy when it comes to love to the point that they do things that are inappropriate. I remember this famous line "If you love me, then prove to me." We need to be always reminded that love isn't always "me first" (1 Corinthians 13:5 MSG). We need to learn to control our selves. Don't be easily carried away with your emotions.
Patience.
Love is patient (1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV) or in other version it says love never gives up. (MSG version) this pertains to being able to wait for the right time, for that right moment. Not because you are both in love with each other means that you need to go into a relationship right away. It is said in Ecclesiastes 3, (v.1) There's a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. We need to develop the character of being patient.
Men, wait for the right time before pursuing a girl. And for the women, don't just easily give in. Don't give your heart to just anyone. That should only be given to that person God destined you to be with.
And lastly, words left unsaid.
This is my favorite of all. And this is one of the toughest things to do, but if you have developed that character of self-control I'm sure you'll be able to do this too! Words left unsaid. As we wait for the right time, we should also learn how to control our mouth. Think twice before saying anything is what they say. Don't stir up emotions when it's not yet the right time.
