Truth, repentance, and faith.

I attended the ministers' orientation yesterday during the Victory Weekend. Its not my first time to minister though. This orientation is really helpful not only to the first time ministers, but also to oldies like me. It refreshes me of the things I need in ministering.

So there you go, these three words really caught my attention during our orientation: Truth. Repentance. Faith.

I googled the word repentance and saw this definition from Wikipedia:
Repentance - change of thought to correct a wrong and gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged

Change of thought to correct a wrong

So how do distinguish the truth from lie? How to know what is right from wrong? Simple, through God's word. Apart from the Word, its hard for us to distinguish the truth from the lies that this world gives us. The more we read our bible (and of course apply it in our lives), the more we learn the truth.

Gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged.

Repentance has two types- worldly repentance and godly repentance.
Worldly repentance is when we repent because someone caught us doing wrong things. Its like, saying sorry but we really don't know why we say so.

Godly repentance, on the other hand, is when we realized our fault, and we're sorry for the things we had done. We know why we say sorry. We realized that we have offended God through our actions. We ask God's forgiveness.

But what happens next after we realized that we have offended God?
Continue living the same lifestyle we used to have before? Continue doing those things?

Certainly not! True repentance leads to a changed life.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
When we confess our sins to God have that faith to believe that He will forgive us. Faith is what we need. Believe that Jesus can (and will) heal all the wounds in our heart. That Jesus can change our life.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Truth. Repentance. Faith.
We need to know the truth. We repent and be sorry for offending God. And we have the faith that God can change our lives.

  1. I enjoyed your post. It’s a lot like college – we should absorb everything we can but ultimately you need to take what you’ve learned and apply it.
